As a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) you will be responsible for both uplifting and maintaining our evolving technology platforms, infrastructure and technology controls. As an SRE, your role will include both oversight for production operations of our systems, as well as development/engineering of solutions to maximize system reliability & automation. Your role will include root cause analysis of incidents and pro-active prevention of recurrence thru the creative design and development of technical solutions as well as process improvements, identifying and implementing automation opportunities to drive down toil, reduce technical debt and improve system reliability.

A key component of the role is to ensure the engineering processes are followed and delivery timescales, once agreed, are adhered to ensuring Bink can meet its commitments to investors and customers

Primary Responsibilites 

  • Support the team lead and other SREs ensuring timely information to allow proper decision making
  • Support best practices that result in the highest quality in our products and service
  • Respond to and resolve unexpected service problems and work with the team to write software to prevent the same problem from recurring
  • Create dashboards and instrument the code to capture and publish essential metrics, and use this data to define alerts
  • Build data analysis tools to keep track of important service level indicators, predict future capacity needs, audit application configurations
  • Automate everything from deployment and configuration management to mitigation of outages, all aspects end-to-end

Functional Attributes

  • Relevant computing qulaification or equivalent experience
  • Some knowledge in the following key areas: Hardware Architecture (performance testing, monitoring, operations), Hardware Benchmarking (Agile, program managements, network management), Design (compliance, security), Network Engineering (planning, provision)
  • Some knowledge of business technology drivers and their impact on architecture design, performance and monitoring, best practices and policies
  • Ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to articulate to more experienced management a technical strategy in clear, concise, understandable terms
  • Practical experience in software development using modern programing languages, e.g.: Java, Python, C# or Scala;
  • Some experience automating tasks and writing tools in a scripting language (e.g. Python, Chef etc);
  • Experience of 2 years of incident resolution experience in an large scale operations environment
  • Some understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps philosophies, technologies, platforms and tools, SLA management, incident resolution, and automation;
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex problems under pressure;
  • Organizational and workload management capabilities
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Understanding of code versioning using Git
  • Knowledge of working in an Agile development environment
